We arrived last night in San Francisco :) After trying to stay up late to start adjusting to the time change and a good night's sleep near the airport the kids were up and roaring to go! Asking everyone for words to describe their feelings about heading to Cambodia, this is what we got:
Joseph: Work
Benjamin: Anxious and tired
Grace: Happy & scared
Anna: Happy because of the bunnies (the orphanage raises bunnies for revenue. I haven't told her they get sold for food :)
Al: Commitment and anxiousness
Erin: Excited and Humbled
This morning we got to meet up with Bill and Jane Gibson and Brody and Zarek Petersen :)!! They are some of our favorite relatives. My mother's cousin and her husband and grandkids. We had a great visit laughing and enjoying a meal. Mom is going to stay with Jane and Bill for the weeks we are in Cambodia and we will meet up with her when we get back to San Francisco in August.
We leave this evening on a 12 1/2 hour flight to to Taipei. We will have an 11 hour layover in Taipei then on to Phnom Penh. We looked it up on the internet and the Taipei airport brings in cultural groups and hosts events so if we are awake we shouldn't be bored. We will arrive in Phnom Penh Wednesday morning at 11:30 which will be about 10:30 Tuesday evening EST.
If able we'll let you know about the Taipei airport :)
